I-Mode Ringtones |
When connect to NTT DoCoMo's i-mode if you have subscribed to the service, you can download ringtones from i-mode's official site or any other website. Most sites you have to pay per download or a subcription fee so you can download many ringtones. I-Mode handsets are not any different from any other handset its just got i-Mode browser application installed on it.
Mobiles are now compatible with the following sound formats:
- .amr - is a type of Realtone. The quality is typical to that of a telephone. File sizes are small.
- .mp3 - one of the most popular types of sound formats in the world. Compresses cd format preserving most of the quality. But still filesizes are too big for GSM/GPRS unless you have bluetooth but not 3G.
- .wav - windows audio very big in size, not widely used in the wireless industry. Good quality sound.
- .mid - a polyphonic or midi ringtone. Sounds on the file can occur on different layers. Small in size and is now the standard in the mobile phone ringtone industry.
- .mmf a Monophonic ringtone. Sound can only occur on one layer which often makes sounds flat. Old mobiles are compatible with this format, only a few new mobiles are compatible.
In the recent times in most common to have a mobile which is compatible with polyphonic ringtones and amr realtones due to their small size. Mp3's have become popular recently due to bluetooth which you can connect any wireless devices to a PC. |
